The Migros Cooperative Ostschweiz is currently constructing a new building in the centre of Herisau. The new residential and commercial development with a two stories underground car park is located at the location of the old Migros and also includes some of the surrounding buildings, which were previously dismantled.

Our office has been supervising the project in geotechnical and hydrogeological matters since 2011. Comprehensive ground and soil investigations were carried out and evaluated, in order to plan the up to 15 m deep excavation pit.  Using long-term groundwater measurement series, the hydrogeological conditions prior to the start of construction were recorded, so that adequate ground water flow measures can be planned and realized. During the construction phase, we continuously monitor the soil and groundwater conditions around the excavation pit. In addition, we also carry out vibration measurements and inclinometer measurements to monitor the construction pit and advise the project team on other hydrogeological, geotechnical and contaminated site law aspects.
